We were funded by In Our Nature to run a programme promoting swap shops and supporting their adoption and development across Greater Manchester.

Future Fashion Fair created a Swap Shop Toolkit which is available for free online, so anyone in Greater Manchester or beyond can learn how to run a swap shop for their local community, commercially, or socially with friends.

Alongside this we also ran a number of workshops teaching local community organisations how to run their own swap shops, helping communities to reduce waste and promoting circular practices.

We caught up with one of our workshop attendees Easy Come Easy Grow CIC (ECEG) in 2026. ECEG said they were able to take their learnings from the workshop, and now run a free monthly swap shop in Newton Heath.

"When textiles stay in circulation, communities thrive and businesses discover new value. This is where real sustainability begins."
